Giant moray eels (Gymnothorax javanicus) look fearsome, due to their large size and teeth, but they are actually very docile, unless provoked. Giant morays are the largest moray eel, when it comes to body mass. They reach up to 3 meters in length, and 30 kilograms in weight. They prefer to hunt at night, sometimes teaming up with groupers, for higher success. During the day, they can be spotted when their heads are sticking out of crevices.
Because of their body shape, these fish had to develop a very unique system to swallow their prey. They are equipped with a second set of jaws (called pharyngeal jaws), complete with teeth, to help transport food. Pretty clever.
